Goal: To reinforce the capacities of women to achieve their wellbeing and the recovery of peace and health in Burundi.

General Objectives

  1. Create a network of women who collaborate with local authorities to conduct educational activities about community health and about epidemics [e.g. malaria, TB].
  2. Conduct specific actions to stop HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
  3. Organize management training workshops to lessen the burden of housework.
  4. Contribute to the promotion of community development initiatives.
  5. Promote the values of peace and reconciliation.

Specific Objectives

  1. Give easy access to daily health care for vulnerable families, especially those suffering from HIV/AIDS, by opening a health clinic in Bujumbura.
  2. Contribute to the reduction of the HIV/AIDS epidemic by developing a public health education campaign that involves people currently living with HIV/AIDS.
  3. Promote nutritional education for people living with HIV/AIDS, and help them to organize income-generating activities.
  4. Work for antiretroviral treatment for our clients to keep their illness under control and advise them about when they should be hospitalized.
  5. Organize physical therapy sessions to sustain the physical wellbeing of people living with HIV/AIDS
  6. Conduct pre- and post-test counseling for voluntary HIV testing, followed by health and psychological care for those who need it.
  7. Advocate for women of the Friends Church to become involved in a role as that is as much preventative as it is to care for people at the community level who are currently living with HIV/AIDS.
  8. Organize an orientation service for sick people coming from the interior of the country to look for specialized treatment services in Bujumbura.
  9. Develop the women of our network and create opportunities to discuss the relationship between humanitarian values of non-violence, spirituality, peace and good health.
  10. Organize fundraising activities to realize the objectives of the organization.
  11. Collaborate with other civil service agencies that are working to promote peace.
  12. Introduce information about the rights of women and their relation with the promotion of peace.
  13. Collaborate with international organizations and foundations that work against HIV/AIDS and/or promote peace.
